On the morning of 21 August 2015, local residents formed a long queue on the seafront at Weston-super-Mare for Dismaland. Banksy's temporary attraction occupied a former lido, and its first morning was reserved for people from the area before the wider public arrived the next day.
The plan had been to release 4,000 advance tickets a day at £3, but the website failed under demand. Organisers switched the opening weekend to admission at the door. With the venue limited to 2,000 people, entry became one-in, one-out as visitors left.
An attraction built around anti-consumerist art produced scarcity of its own. The joke was not confined to the exhibits: it also appeared in a broken ticket site and an entrance that advanced one person at a time.
