A pastry shop in Changhua, Taiwan, imposed a per-person purchase cap in its pre–Mid-Autumn Festival queue. TVBS reported in 2018 that after customers brought several children to multiply their allowance, staff applied a rule excluding children under 140 centimetres from the buyer count.
When first-come order alone cannot distribute scarce goods fairly, the shop must define who counts as one buyer. A family outing for festival pastries becomes entangled with a precise judgment about the queue’s rules.
