At rural milk collection centres in India, each farmer's delivery is inspected, weighed and linked to a member record. The National Dairy Development Board's standard procedure begins by requiring pourer members to follow a queue, then sets out checks for odour, foreign matter and adulteration before electronic weighing and entry under the member code.
The people are not the only things in line. Their milk cans move toward the same testing platform, carrying the result of each morning or evening's work.
