On 27 October 2024, hundreds gathered from 11 a.m. around Bangkok’s 72nd Anniversary Park and Wat Arun to watch the Royal Barge Procession and the royal robe-offering ceremony. A long physical queue for the park checkpoint extended into the grounds of nearby Siriraj Hospital. At Wat Arun, spectators showed national ID cards and passed through a scanner before entering.

The line was not for boarding a barge, but for access to a secure place from which to witness the river ceremony. Early arrivals then sat and waited until the afternoon procession. When the temple reached capacity and closed its gate at 12:30 p.m., position in the queue became a practical boundary between entering the limited viewing area and finding another place outside.
