At At Taqwa Grand Mosque in East Jakarta, places in the Ramadan queue for free takjil were represented by sandals tied together with raffia. A photograph taken on 25 March 2024 says the practice had continued for four years, with 200 to 300 portions prepared each day depending on donations. Footwear held a place while its owner did not need to remain standing there.

Iftar distribution is governed by the fixed time of sunset. The sandal line let people pray or attend to other tasks without surrendering their turn. Its distinctive feature was not an app or printed ticket, but an everyday object at every worshipper’s feet, rearranged into a visible system of fairness.
