On 17 January 2025, owners and animals formed a queue at the entrance to Santiago parish church in Guadalajara, Spain, for the feast-day blessing of Saint Anthony. La Crónica documented pets—mostly dogs—waiting with their people as the priest received them in turn. The observance extended beyond the doorway: a procession with giant figures and dulzaina music moved along Calle Mayor, and bread rolls were distributed at the end. The report does not establish the exact length of the line or each animal’s waiting time. It does show that the blessing was a concrete procedure: bring an animal to the church, join the order at the entrance and approach together. In this parish queue, membership in the ritual household visibly included companions who could not state their own intention to participate.
