On 23 September 2023, roughly 290 cultural venues in Buenos Aires opened free of charge into the early morning for La Noche de los Museos, the city's Night of the Museums. According to the city's culture department, around one million people circulated through Buenos Aires. A long admission line formed outside the Buenos Aires Museum, while La Nación reported dozens queuing for night visits to the historic Torre Monumental.

What made these queues unusual was that no single blockbuster exhibition created them. Museums, universities, memory sites and historic buildings opened on the same night, turning the city into a vast cultural route. Free admission gave residents a reason to enter places that cost, habit or scheduling might otherwise keep outside their ordinary lives.

The lines stood outside buildings, but together they drew a new map of the city. Visitors were not merely waiting for one work of art; many were deciding where to go next and moving between venues. When orderly waiting appeared at normally quiet entrances, culture expanded beyond interiors and into pavements and squares.
