In September 2015, refugees and migrants rerouted by Hungary's border closure concentrated at Tovarnik station in eastern Croatia. Field reporting described thousands waiting for trains and buses; one refugee had spent two days reaching the front of an official bus queue without clear information about its destination.
What distinguishes this queue is that advancing did not reveal where the journey would lead. Transport was used to relieve congestion, yet people waited for a place on the next available vehicle without control over their own route.
