At Tirumala’s Venkateswara temple, access to free darshan is managed through tokens and time slots. The official Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams website publishes the running slot and remaining balance for Slotted Sarva Darshan. It explicitly states that pilgrims wait in a “Q-line” to obtain SSD tokens and that tickets are issued on a first-come, first-served basis. It also warns that the online balance may change before a pilgrim physically reaches the counter.

This queue is distinctive because it comes before the main devotional wait. Pilgrims first queue for the right to enter a later time slot, and only then proceed toward darshan. The website can reveal current scarcity, but information on a screen does not itself secure a place. A person must reach the physical counter, obtain a token in arrival order, and return or advance at the assigned time. One sacred destination therefore produces several stages of waiting: checking information, receiving a token, and approaching the shrine. The system does not eliminate the pilgrimage queue; it divides a very large flow into separate, administratively legible waits.
