On 14 September 2026, Marawi was due to take part in the first parliamentary election in the Bangsamoro autonomous region. The city election officer said voting at 36 centres serving 194 clustered precincts would generally operate on a first-come, first-served basis. Senior citizens, disabled voters and pregnant women, however, would have priority lanes and early voting hours.

Voters were told to check their assigned precinct, follow the queue, cast their ballot and leave so movement remained orderly. Fairness here did not mean one universal line. The system placed two principles side by side: arrival order for the general electorate and reduced physical burden for voters needing priority.
